Danish biotech firm Bavarian Nordic has announced the donation of 40,000 doses of its mpox vaccine to Africa CDC following a public health emergency. The European Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority will also provide an additional 175,420 doses to combat the outbreak originating in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Danish biotech firm Bavarian Nordic announced on Tuesday that it will donate 40,000 doses of its mpox vaccine to Africa's top public health body, following a recent emergency declaration.
The European Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority will procure and donate an additional 175,420 doses to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).
Africa CDC declared a 'public health emergency of continental security' earlier today, as an mpox outbreak spread from the Democratic Republic of Congo to neighboring countries. This order will not affect Bavarian Nordic's financial outlook for 2024.
